The Keys To Top Web Rankings
In the world of Internet marketing, there is one sure fire way to Improve Website Ranking. This is called search engine optimisation, or more commonly known as SEO. This refers to the process (and some say ‘art’) of optimising a website for target keywords. What SEO is about is targeting a select list of keywords (or keyphrases) so that your website can start ranking highly for them and as a consequence, get more traffic to them.
Keyword Research
So how do you find out which keywords you should be targeting? Essentially, you should target those which fit 2 basic criteria:
- relative high number of daily searches
- relative low number of websites competing for them
By complying with those 2 criteria, you have a good opportunity to both rank highly for that keyword and get good traffic to your website.
By the way, you may have realised that people call them “keywords” even though they are more like “keyphrases.” They are referring to the same thing. So when people say “keywords”, please keep in mind that they are more often than not referring to “keyphrases.”
Anyway, the question remains: how do you find keyword data?
The best part is that Google provides all its search data free of charge to everyone. It’s best known as Google Keyword Tool and there is no single SEO consultant who doesn’t love to use it. This tool gives SEO people a more accurate picture as to what keywords a website should be targeting to Improve Website Ranking.
You can go and use other tools, however, you will find that you will have to pay a bit to use them. Google’s keyword tool is good enough to start off doing keyword research.
How To Do SEO
Once you have chosen the best keywords to target, it’s time to start the process of SEO.
SEO can be divided into 2 broad categories:
